Dear 2011 Me…

Dear Me in 2011…

I woke up this Friday morning thinking about change and how I always fight it, even if it’s good and exciting changes.

I’m sitting here 10 years later and there are some things you really need to know…

+ you’ll still be a full-time photographer. I know- wild. You thought this was just something you’d do for a but before you found your next job, but you will still be your own boss. Your business will change in so many ways over the next few years. Just go with it- don’t fight it. Let go of the idea you have in your head of what a “successful photographer” looks like. Despite a pandemic, (it’s hard to explain, but you’ll learn) you’re still doing the damn thing.

+ you’re just at the very beginning of your journey to start a family. It’s going to suck- like, a lot… but it will be SO worth it. Hang in there.

+ spend as much time with your loved ones as you can. Even when you don’t feel up to it all the time. Follow through on those plans. You’ll never regret it.

+ you’re not going to be good at everything you try- but you should still try it.

+ bangs are always a bad idea for you. No, really.

What do you wish you had known 10 years ago?
