Thomas Jefferson Ship Visits Old Town- Alexandria, Virginia

Yesterday was a beautiful day in Old Town Alexandria.

I was photographing an event for NOAA on the NOAA ship Thomas Jefferson. The 208-ft. hydrographic survey ship is making a port call in commemoration of NOAA’s 200th celebration. Tours are available to the general public on Thursday, July 26 from 10-4. It’s a great opportunity to see how data is collected to create and update the nation’s nautical charts. It would be a very fun trip for little ones if you have a free afternoon.

If you’d like to go….directions: Robinson Terminal(south pier), at 2 Duke St., can be reached via Metro. Take the Yellow or Blue line to King Street. It is approximately 12-14 blocks to the pier. You can take the DASH 2 bus from King Street Station to N. Fairfax Street and King Street. Walk one block east on King Street. Turn right on Union. Walk approximately two blocks south on Union. Turn left on Duke Street. Walk a short distance on Duke to the Robinson Terminal Pier entrance.
