The 2009 Polar Bear Plunge was a complete success- with 11,000 plungers and almost three million dollars donated, it was a chilly and fun day!
Participants took a quick dip in the Chesapeake Bay to raise funds for Special Olympics Maryland, the state’s largest year-round organization devoted to sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
I want to first thank Jaime for hooking me up with the Plunging Hons. She wasn’t able to photograph it this year, and asked me if I’d want to- I said OF COURSE! 🙂 It was a total blast! And sooooo cold! For awhile I couldn’t feel my toes!
Secondly I want to thank Kate Callahan who put the Plunging Hons team together. You helped raise a lot of money for Special Olympics and also helped a lot of people have a lot of fun on a cold Saturday in January.
Check out these photos! And if you want to see ALL of them- go to my Pictage page HERE. I will donate all proceeds from the photos to Special Olympics Maryland!
11,000 people! Plunging into the Chesapeake! Insane!
