It is always so fun to be a part of a surprise, but this surprise was incredibly special!
Hanna & Skip’s daughter reached out to me a few weeks before a surprise party for her parents, who were about to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. The party was going to take place on their actual wedding anniversary, too!
On the evening of the event, I parked at The Clarksburg Room and noticed guests streaming in to the upstairs event space. Everyone seemed so excited and that made me even more excited to be a part of this!
About 90 guests mingled in the upstairs event room until Skip & Hanna’s kids made the announcement they were on their way. The anticipation in the room was palpable!
When the two walked in you could see the range of emotions they quickly went through- shock, confusion, then happiness. When it sank in just how many people had come to their surprise party, they were so emotional. It was incredible sweet and touching. Hanna and Skip couldn’t believe that people from every single part of their life were in the same room- sharing this very special moment with them.
After lots of hugs and hellos, dinner was served. After dinner and drinks, the couple made their way up to the front of the room, where many guests, both friends and family, made heartfelt toasts to the couple. Lots of tears and sweet moments! (I might have teared up once, too!)
The details of the event were so sweet and meaningful- flowers done by a good friend, photos of the couple strung to balloons on the ceiling, gift bags for every single guest. So thoughtful!
After toasts, the couple cut a cake and then the dancing began. What a wonderful evening and fun event to photograph!
