Jenifer & Sahr- Washington, DC

“To read a book for the first time is to make an acquaintance with a new friend; to read it for a second time is to meet an old one. “

antique books become the ring pillows… brilliant!

Jen and Sahr met in the Yale Library, so it was only appropriate to have a book-themed wedding. I absolutely loved their wedding, and am so excited to share it with all of you!

The wedding was held at Tregaron, a beautiful part of the Washington International School. This was my fourth wedding there, but my very first that took advantage of the amazingly gorgeous garden area.

Jen and Sahr wrote their own vows, and they were so perfect. I caught quick glimpses and words from their friends in the audience, and at one point heard, “This is so them.” And it really was. Everything from the programs, to the ring bearer “pillows” to Jen’s dress (and shoes!), to the food and music… everything was perfectly them… a little bit vintage, beautifully historic, elegant, and fun. Their friends and family also added to the joy and ambiance of the evening.

I also have to say that Jen took complete advantage of e-bay and etsy and rocked out her wedding! Her dress, the moroccan lights, her beautiful hairpin… ebay, ebay, etsy! So cool.

J&S, thank you so much for letting me a part of your beautifully small and intimate wedding day. I feel so honored to have been there with your very closest friends and family. Enjoy your short honeymoon in Rehoboth Beach and then your truly amazing honeymoon this coming summer to Tanzania and Kenya!

Some sweet words I just got in my e-mail! (so sweet!)

“Hi Mary Kate,

We looked at the photos last night, but then I ended up falling asleep on the couch before I could send you an email. Anyway, they are absolutely fantastic!!! We couldn’t be happier…. you really captured the meaning of our day.

Thank YOU for being a part of our celebration — not only for sharing your talent with us, but for all of your other assistance, from helping me display the lanterns to dealing with our cake-cutting chaos! We really appreciated all of your hard work.

I can’t wait to see the full set of photos!

Have a great week. And, enjoy your upcoming trip to Florida!

“Hi Mary Kate,

Rich, my mother-in-law Ruth, and I just looked at the preview photos you have posted on your website.
I just had to tell you how fantastic they are. You certainly did an excellent job of capturing Jen’s beauty and the playful side of the two of them. I especially liked the one of them walking toward the school, with the fading light coming through the trees. So beautiful.

The black and white one of the kids at the “white” board is wonderful.

The way you “frame” your photographs is really well done. You are quite the artist! We look forward to seeing the entire collection.

I hope you have recuperated from the long day you had yesterday. I am so glad Jen found you, and that you were their official photographer. Thank you for everything you did to help make Jen and Sahr’s wedding day so very special.
