Had the absolute honor and privilege of documenting the military funeral of Richard William Hauer Jr. yesterday at Arlington National Cemetery with Stauffer Funeral Homes P.A.. Despite the driving rain, the soldiers took great care of Mr. Hauer and his family. No detail was missed, even though it was raining sideways.
Richard was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army on June 4, 1961. He obtained his master’s degree from Florida Institute of Technology.
Richard served in the United States Army for 30 years with a primary specialty of Health Services Materiel Officer. He served in Vietnam, was Commander of the 45th Medical Battalion in Hanau, Germany, and Post Commander of Fort Detrick in Frederick from Aug 1986 to Aug 1989. He retired as a full Colonel with 30 years of service on June 4, 1991.
Join me this afternoon in thanking this officer for a job well done. Thank you, Colonel Hauer. Rest easy.
