We were all a little nervous earlier in the week, when the forecast called for rain. Lots of rain. But as the week chugged along, the weather was looking better and better. And by Saturday morning, I knew we were going to have an amazing day!
Wetherly and Jason started the day at the Gaylord- the suite where the ladies got ready had a great view of the iconic ferris wheel on the National Harbor pier and was such a relaxing spot. No chaos, just family getting ready for a great day.
Everyone hopped in Ubers to head to the ceremony site. The Carlyle House was a perfect backdrop for a short but sweet ceremony. The couple chose to have a family only ceremony. 40 guests watched them say, “I do” before heading around the corner for the private dinner at Landini’s Brothers Restaurant. Dinner was a full Italian meal, complete with toasts (and maybe a little bit of roasting!) and a thank you from the couple.
After dinner the couple hopped in a hired car and we traveled around Old Town Alexandria snapping photos at some of their favorite places. It was so much fun to run around the city!
We then tooled around National Harbor for a few photos before boarding the National Elite Yacht, where 130 guests were awaiting their arrival. It was so sweet how excited everyone was to see them!
A first dance, toasts from friends and a cake cutting were followed by a few epic hours of dancing (at one point glow bracelets and mullet wigs came out!) while the boat cruised down the Potomac. The weather was incredible and many guests took advantage of the views on the top of the boat- you could see all the amazing monuments lit up as we passed by.
The couple excited the boat to an incredible sparkler sendoff. What a day!
