Last night I photographed the NOAA 200th Celebration Gala. The Gala was held to highlight the rich history of science, service, and stewardship provided to the American public by NOAA and its predecessors.
There are many great stories to tell, from the founding of the U.S. Survey of the Coast by Thomas Jefferson to the present-day activities of an agency dedicated to the protection, management, and understanding of our ocean, coasts, and skies.
The coolest part of last night was that Bill Nye the Science Guy was the keynote speaker! He was funny, interesting, and compelling all at the same time. I really enjoyed his speech. He was a huge part of my childhood, and I haven’t been able to get the theme song from his show out of my head since yesterday evening.
